A cross-vendor index of driver versions for motherboards, laptops, desktops, and graphics cards β and the vendor-lag metric: how far behind the newest available driver each vendor's listings actually sit.
π Howβs my hardware doing? β check your board, PC, or graphics card
Ranked best to worst by median lag β the typical gap between a listed driver and the newest version any source ships for that silicon (board vendors plus Windows Update and AMD/Intel direct). The damning numbers: the share of a vendor's machines more than a year behind on at least one driver family, and the share whose listings have had no driver update at all in two years.
Median worst-case lag per desktop platform, plus each vendor's add-in graphics cards (laptop/desktop system vendors have no socket and sit out this view). Darker = further behind: the tell-tale pattern is a vendor keeping the current generation fresh while old-but-still-sold boards drift for years.
Every vendor keeps some machines current and lets others rot β each vendor's best-kept and most-neglected per product type (a graphics card and a motherboard aren't the same race), broken down by component. The chips show where the lag is: one stale driver reads very differently from a machine abandoned across the board.
